East Bridgewater - Gertrude M. (Edson) Mola 97, formerly of Whitman, died Tuesday May 7 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Augustine Mola.
Born and raised in Whitman she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Hattie (Hill) Edson and a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1933.
Gertrude had been a longtime resident of East Bridgewater, and a former communicant of St. John’s Church.
In her early years she had worked as a hostess for the infamous Toll House Restaurant of Whitman, and later was a familiar face working over 26 years at the former Joppa Grill of East Bridgewater.
She enjoyed knitting and quilt making, and shared her talents with family and friends.
Her family would like to thank the staff of St. Joseph’s Manor for the loving care she was given.
She is survived by her loving children Edward Mola and his wife Sandra of FL, Philip Mola and his wife Marie of FL, and Donna Carr and her husband Bob of NC. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and her nephew Ronald Dickinson as well as many cousins, friends and special caregivers. She will be missed by her beloved cat Sara.
