Obituary

William J. Cullen, 80, of Londonderry, NH died suddenly Monday August 9, 2004 at his home. Mr. Cullen was born in Boston, MA on July 28, 1924, a son of the late William F. and Marion J. (Granville) Cullen. He was raised in Roxbury, MA and had resided in Londonderry for more than 30 years. Mr. Cullen was a graduate of Commerce High School in Roxbury, MA. Following high school he enlisted with the US Army Air Corp and was proud to have served in Normandy during WWII. He later graduated with a BS degree from Nichols College in Dudley, MA. He was a communications entrepreneur and was instrumental in bringing two way radio and paging technology to New Hampshire. He was a Founder and part owner of Nel-Tech Labs, Inc. in Manchester and served on the Board of Directors and as a communications consultant for their digital messaging systems company. He was also Founder and joint owner of Comex, Inc., the Executive Exchange, Inc., and Comex Systems, Inc. all of Manchester. He was founder and part owner of Acticom in Burlington, MA and founder and owner of Johnson Communications, Inc. in Londonderry. He was an active communicant of St. Jude Parish, Londonderry and a member of the Londonderry Safety Committee.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Muriel E. (Funk) Cullen of Londonderry, five sons, William B. Cullen of Fargo, ND, Brian Cullen and his wife Rita of Manchester, Robert Cullen of Temple, Mark Cullen and his wife Casee of Londonderry, Christopher Cullen of Londonderry, two daughters, Donna Wood and her husband Bill of Londonderry, Karen Cawley and her husband Patrick of Londonderry, four grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday August 16th at 10:00am in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the N.E. Heart Institute at Catholic Medical Center, 100 McGregor St., Manchester, NH 03102.
