John P. Blake, 66, of Franklin, died Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Barbara S. (Stangel) Blake for the past 21 years.
Born in Dallas, TX on December 29, 1946, he was the son of the late James H. and Margaret (Conlogue) Blake.
John was a resident of Franklin for the past 20 years and formerly resided in Virginia.
John proudly served in the U.S. Army for 3 years during the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of sergeant and received many medals including the Vietnam Campaign & Service Medals, the Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.
He was currently working as a systems architect at CVS Corporation in Woonsocket, RI where he had worked for 30 years.
A devoted family man, John was an avid golfer and was a lifelong donor to the American Red Cross.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Ryan and Kelly Blake, both of Franklin, four brothers, Jim of Miami, FL, Dan of Port Charlotte, FL, David of Charleston, SC and Chris of Victorville, CA, a sister Maureen Blake of Temple, TX and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) on Saturday, May 11 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 10 a.m.
Burial will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 – 8 p.m.
