Obituary

Basilios Milionis, 95, of Worcester, passed away peacefully Monday, May 6th in his home. His wife of 60 years, Victoria (Economou) Milionis, died in 2011. He leaves two sons, Fotios B. Milionis and his wife, Lisa and Gregory B. Milionis and his wife, Darlene, all of Worcester; a sister, Georgia Iatrou of Worcester; nine grandchildren, Victoria, Paul, Georgia, Candice, Vasiliki, Alysia, William, Gregory, and Nikolaos; and nephews and nieces.
He was born in Tsamanta, Greece, the son of Fotios and Vasiliki (Kalesis) Milionis and came to Worcester in 1967. Mr. Milionis was a carpenter and a factory worker at the former L. Hardy Knife Company before retiring. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, a very active member of the St. George’s Benefit Society of Tsamanta, a former member of the AHEPA. Mr. Milionis was a veteran serving as a sergeant in the Greek Army and in the resistance against the Germans during World War II.
His funeral is Wednesday May 8th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 10:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, May 7th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
