TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Helen C. (Shaw) (Sylvain) Penwell, age 76, died Saturday morning, May 4, at the Clinton Hospital. She had been in residence at Westford House for the past three years. Mrs. Penwell was the beloved wife of the late Howard Penwell.
She was born in Boston, November 6, 1936, a daughter of the late James and Helen (Fountain) Shaw, and had resided in Tewksbury since 1948.
Helen was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness, Wilmington Kingdom Hall congregation. Her life was filled with her grandchildren, and cherished the time spent with them and her great grandchildren. She was also a lifelong enthusiast of card games.
She is survived by two children, Helen Jensen and Maurice “Moe” Sylvain both of Salem, NH; six grandchildren, Jimmy Stanichuk of Chelmsford, Mandy McGowan and Mark Jensen, Jacquelyn Jensen, all of Plaistow, NH, Jenna Sylvain and Matthew Sylvain both of Salem, NH; five great grandchildren, Alexia, Ariana, Averey, Kaden, and Brett; a brother, James Shaw of Lowell; a sister, Marjorie Jensen of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a Memorial Celebration of her Life will be held at Kingdom Hall, 1 Bridge Lane, Wilmington, on Saturday, May 11, at 10:30 a.m..
