Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a graduate of Winthrop High School class of 1954 and later graduated from Wentworth Institute, with a degree in engineering. While serving in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Coast Guard, he adventurously played football with his shipmates on arctic ice and visited both the North and South Pole. He would say with smile that he walked “around the world” in fifteen minutes. Bob was a member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club, a sailing and boating enthusiast and owner of “The Minx” an Indian Class sail boat. He was also a regular on the Thursday night CPYC men's bowling team. Bob was a also a member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks #1078. Bob's hobby and true passion was carpentry. Truly gifted with his hands there wasn't anything he couldn't build or fix; from canoes and kayaks, to home furnishings for his family. He was happiest in his barn, crafting masterpieces for his family, or setting out to sail on the Indian. His dry humor was most enjoyed by those closest to him.
