CHICOPEE – Rita L. (Fiola) Pineault, 90, a longtime resident of Stebbins Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Friday, May 3, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at the Julian J. Leavitt Family Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on October 9, 1922, a beloved daughter of the late Ulric and Georgiana (Pelletier) Fiola. She was raised in Fall River, graduated from local schools and lived in the city for many years. Rita furthered her education and received an Associate’s Degree in Business. In 1953, she moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee with her late husband, Albert, and lived there until she moved to the Fairhaven Apartments on Britton Street in the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1979. She was employed for many years as an executive secretary at the former F. W. Sickles Company which later became General Instrument. She was last employed as a clerk in the Voter Registration Office for the City of Chicopee. She was a member and past president of the Business Professional Women’s Club. She was a longtime volunteer at the Chicopee Senior Center and a volunteer for the Grandmother’s Program at the former Fairview Memorial School. Because of her longtime volunteer service to the community, she was presented with the Dove Award from former Governor William Weld. During her leisure time, Rita enjoyed camping, square dancing, knitting and working on arts and crafts. Active in her faith, she was a longtime communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and Saint Anne Church in Fairview. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, L. Albert Pineault who was Called Home on January 24, 1978. They were married on September 5, 1942 at Saint Dominic Church in Swansea and were blessed with 35 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving daughters, Carolyn R. Griffith of Chicopee and Collette J. Ingram of Springfield; her two cherished grandchildren, Melissa C. Griffith-Joe of Chicopee, and Kurt M. Ingram of Spencer; her two cherished great-grandsons, Jordan Joe and Brandon Ingram; her cherished great-great granddaughter, Kylee Amber Ingram; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her cherished grandson, Kevin A. Ingram who was Called Home on June 29, 1992; and her dear sisters, Jeannette Courville and Irene Buffington. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, May 8, 2013 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee.
