Mary Grace Purvis, 74, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Ronald Parks officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Church Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Purvis was born August 11, 1938 in Tifton, Georgia to the late A. K. and Lessie Rebecca Simpson Gossett. She lived in the community for over twenty-three years. She was a former food service manager at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her children: Lynn W. Glidewell of Thibodaux, Louisiana, Rhonda Woodrow of Brunswick, Brigitte Willett of Dry Prong, Louisiana, John Perry Brown of Ashburn, Gina Hankey of Oxford, Pennsylvania, Kelly Pellegrin of Houma, Louisiana and Richard Scott Brown of Fitzgerald; twenty grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two sisters: Ester Case of Cumming and Louise Wilkerson of Ocilla. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Glendal Purvis; a son: John F. Brown; two brothers and two sisters.
