Diane Coy Mayer, 44, of Weston died peacefully under the care and comfort of her family at her residence in Weston on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Diane will be remembered as a strong person who proved to be an inspiration during her illness and exuded grace and perseverance while facing cancer.
She was born in Steubenville, Ohio on July 16, 1968 the daughter of David W. Coy and Suzann Kurtz Coy both of Durham, North Carolina.
She was the loving wife for 17 years of Kirk J. Mayer of Weston. Devoted and beloved mother of Kaitlyn N. Mayer of Weston. Sister of Gregory D. Coy and his wife Laura C. Coy both of Kansas City, Missouri. Daughter-in-law of Robert and Nancy H. (Craig) Mayer of Warwick, Rhode Island.
Diane received her BS in Industrial Engineering from Virginia Tech and began her career with GE and Powell Flutes before retiring from Ariba in Boston as a sourcing specialist to become a stay at home Mom to Kaitlyn. Before getting sick, she enjoyed participating in triathlons, reading, and spending time with friends. She was a “work hard, play hard” type of person who liked to give back to the community by volunteering. She will be greatly missed by people from around the world.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life for family and close friends will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the First Parish Church in Weston, 349 Boston Post Road, Weston Center.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial donations in Diane’s memory be sent to the Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology, MooseTrax Cancer Research Fund, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215.
