John C. Derouen 79 years old of Taunton died Tuesday April 30, 2013. He was the husband of the late M. Theresa (Volta) Derouen. John was born and raised in New Iberia, Louisiana a son of the late Albert and Louise (Jones) Derouen and moved to San Francisco at the age of seventeen. He had lived in Brockton for many years before moving to Taunton ten years ago.
John was a meat cutter by trade and had worked for Shaws Supermarkets for over 35 years. In his retirement, he worked at Stop & Shop in Raynham. He was a member of the United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 791 and the Brockton Retail Clerks Union.
In his free time John loved to cook especially Cajun food, gardening, dancing and listening to blues guitar music. He enjoyed time spent with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John is survived by his children, John and his wife Kimberly of Tewksbury, Anthony and his wife Marie of Norwood, David husband of the late Toni of Brockton, Steven of Brockton, Peter and his wife Nancy of Halifax, Marc of Wareham and Monique Mello of Duxbury. He also leaves 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Albert, Joseph, Harold and Theresa Derouen and Stephanie Jones all of California, Bonnie May Raggette of Louisiana and the late Alphonse Derouen and Louise Bijou.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Monday 4-8 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 am followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
