
John Homer Perkins, 63, of Pawcatuck CT, died Friday at the Westerly Hospital. He was the husband of Cheryl (Hall) Perkins, whom he married June 3, 1995.
Born September 14, 1940, in New London CT, he was the son of John Elmer, Jr. and Harriet Perkins. He spent his early years in Waterford, CT and the last forty-nine years were in the Stonington area. He was one of the founding members of the Quiambaug Fire Company and served on the Old Mystic Fire Police. He also loved fishing. Prior to his retirement he was employed at Bob Valenti Auto Mall. He had previously worked at International Armor Car Service as well as Sonoco Products Company.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son Owen Perkins, a daughter Laurie Ann Perkins, two step-sons Richard and David Novak; a sister, Gladys Chase of North Stonington, a brother, Harry Perkins of Westerly, as well as grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
His family will greet relatives and friends Tuesday from 6 to 8pm at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, historic downtown Mystic. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10am at the funeral home. Interment is private.
