Margaret M. (McCarthy) Sturgis, 90, of Franklin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Forge Hill Senior Living in Franklin.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on June 28, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Maurice J. and Minetta (Little) McCarthy.
Mrs. Sturgis grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan and graduated from University High School in Ann Arbor. She resided there until moving to Highland Beach, Florida in 1976 where she lived until moving to Franklin last year.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Sturgis worked at the Boca Raton Hotel and Club for many years. She had previously worked as a secretary at an elementary school in Ann Arbor.
She is survived by her son, Samuel P. Sturgis, III and his wife Gail M. of Medway and two grandchildren Katharine Sturgis Donohue and her husband Kevin of Wrentham and David McCarthy Sturgis and his wife Sarah Kramer of Medford.
She is also survived by three great-grandchildren Bridget Rose, Liam Samuel and Henry Patrick Donohue, all of Wrentham and a sister Patricia McCarthy Delong and her husband Richard A. of Dexter, Michigan.
Funeral services are private at the request of her family.
