Lawrence R. Curran Jr., a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Epoch of Melrose Nursing Home in Melrose following a lengthy illness. He was 80 years old.
Larry was born in Boston on January 30, 1933, a son of the late Lawrence R. Curran and Elizabeth "Gert" (Fox) Curran. He grew up in Charlestown and attended the Boston Public School system. Larry worked as a longshoreman on the Boston waterfront many years ago and worked several other jobs in his lifetime.
Larry is the beloved father of Joseph Curran of Georgia, Lawrence Curran of New Hampshire and the late Margaret A. Curran. He is the beloved grandfather of 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is the devoted brother of Catherine West of Malden, Marilyn Mullaney of Malden, Joan Matarazzo of Medford, Theresa Roche of Townsend and the late Catherine Hickey, Patricia Sullivan and Gertrude Toner. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Larry's Funeral on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 9 A.M. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
