Richard W. “Dick” Cote, 67, of Worcester died Monday, April 29th in St. Vincent Hospital after a long illness. He leaves three daughters, Cheryl Reynolds of Worcester, Michelle Chase of Webster and Debra Cote and her partner, Billie Rama of Hoboken, NJ; a sister, Diane Cote of East Douglas; two grandchildren, Zachary Chase and Amanda Reynolds; several nieces and nephews and his former wife, Dolly Merchant.
He was born in Worcester, the son of William R. and Beatrice M. (Jalbert) Cote and graduated from South High School in 1963. Dick was a machinist for several years at the Norton Company. He was the director for the Worcester Modified Softball League for many years. Dick enjoyed his trips every spring and fall to the camp in Maine with his lifelong friends. He loved the game of baseball and had a great sense of humor. He loved antiques and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Dick had a great respect for the military and veterans. He also volunteered for the Easter Seals. Mr. Cote faced his illness with bravery until the very end.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 2nd at 11:00 AM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 AM until the start of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Massachusetts Chapter, 29 Crafts Street Suite 450, Newton, MA 02160. or to the American Red Cross, PO Box 4002018, Des Moines, IA 50340-2018
