WORCESTER-William G. Gaffney, 74 of 15 Wyola Drive died Friday, March 8th in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center. He leaves his wife of 45 years Viviane R. (Goulet) Gaffney, 5 sons Michael W., Thomas J. and Stephen W. Gaffney all of Worcester, Joseph P. Gaffney of Paxton and Paul F. Gaffney of Leicester, 2 daughters Patricia M. Webster of Worcester and Viviane M. Dumas of Webster, a brother Francis R. Gaffney of Worcester, 14 grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
He was born in Worcester the son of William F. and Elizabeth M. (Whalen) Gaffney. Mr. Gaffney was a graduate of South High School and the College of the Holy Cross. He was an Army veteran. Mr. Gaffney had been a budget analyst for the U.S. Department of Transportation for 35 years, he retired in 1985. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish, and was an avid reader.
The funeral will be Tuesday, March 12th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, March 11th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
