Florine M. (Bird) Slamin. Age 83 . died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Beaumont at Whitney Place in Natick.
She was the beloved wife of the late James E. Slamin, her highschool sweetheart, to whom she was married for 56 years.
Born in Derby CT she was the daughter of the late James T. and Margaret (Elder) Bird.
Florine was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed crafts, painting and making bead necklaces that she shared with everyone! Her favorite Disney princess was Snow White. Florine enjoyed shopping at the Christmas tree shop and stopping at yard sales . In 1972 she and her husband built a cottage in NH where they spent many weekends away with their children and grandchildren. For the past few years she has lived at Whitney of Natick where she received wonderful care, enjoying trips to museums,cookouts, concerts and her favorite,watching Red Sox opening day on the big screen
Mother of five children James Slamin and his wife Cynthia of Natick ,Linda Cecilio and her husband Alan of Silver Springs Md, Edward Slamin of Sandwich ,Thomas Slamin and his wife Michelle of Natick and Lisa Nylander and her husband Gary of Milford . Florine leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her granddaughter Michelle and her great granddaughter Madison.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday, May 1 at 8:00 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common followed by a Mass of Chtistian Burial in St Linus Church at 9:00 A.M.
Visting hours are Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
Interment St. Patrick Cemetery
