Obituary

Robert C. Doherty, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence following an extended illness. He was 76 years old.

Robert was born in Boston on April 5, 1937, a son of the late Daniel Doherty and Mary (Conroy) Doherty. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School. He enlisted into the United States Air Force on July 26, 1954 and served his country with pride and honor during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on April 18, 1958 with the rank of Airman First Class. Robert worked as a Postal Clerk for the United Stated Postal Service for many years.

Robert is the beloved brother of the late Daniel J.A. Doherty and Joseph David Doherty. He is the beloved brother-in-law of Mary A. Doherty of Melrose and the late Ann (McLaughlin) Doherty. He is the loving uncle of Erin Turcotte and her husband John of Boxford, Danelle and Christopher Doherty of California, Robert Doherty, Collen and Joseph Doherty and the late Debra Doherty. He is the loving Godfather and great-uncle of Evan Turcotte and the loving great-uncle of Daniel Turcotte and Zachary Turcotte. He is also survived by many cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Robert's Funeral on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours are Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 2 to 4 P.M. in the funeral home.
