Halifax – Margaret A. (Majenski) Delaney 78, died Thursday April 25 after a brave battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert H. Delaney.
Born and raised in Dorchester and later in Quincy she was the daughter of the late Adam and Marion (Marino) Majenski and a graduate of North Quincy High.
Prior to her retirement and move to Halifax, Margaret had been a longtime resident of Abington, where she along with her husband Robert raised their five children. She had been a familiar face working several years in the cafeteria of the Abington school system.
After devoting many years to her family, and upon their graduations, she herself returned to nursing school achieving her LPN and until her retirement had worked many years at the former Plymouth County Hospital.
She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and her greatest joy came from following the many activities of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Robert T. Delaney and Virginia Duron of Texas, Steven M. Delaney and his wife Gail of East Bridgewater, Richard A. Delaney and his wife Maryann of Falmouth, Margaret A. Woodard of Halifax and Debra McDonough and her husband Thomas of Whitman, her brother Thomas Majenski of Abington and her sister Jean Hoban of Franklin. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren as well and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday April 30 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM in the MA National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be held Monday April 29 from 5-8 PM.
