Civitarese, Louis J. Jr. (Civi) 72 of Marshfield, April 23,2013. Loving husband of Barbara (Trabucco) Civitarese, Father of Jean-Marie Murphy of Holbrook, Karen Civitarese of Marshfield, Stephen Civitarese and his wife Tara of Centerville, Christine Civitarese of Barnstable, Lynne Civitarese of Pembroke, Kathy Dunnington of Marshfield and Michael Civitarese of Marshfield. He had 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Son of the late Louis and Dorothea Civitarese; brother of Edward Civitarese of Dorchester, John Civitarese of Quincy, Dorothy Lee Civitarese and Susan Alexander of East Bridgewater. Lou was educated in the Boston school system, he graduated from Dorchester High School in 1958 and Boston Clerical School in 1960, where he served as Class Treasurer. Lou spent 25 years working for various chains in the supermarket industry and was a youth worker at the Denison House for 15 years. He was a 30 year veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve with many awards including the Meritorious Service Ribbon and 4 Army Commendation Medals. Lou served in Saudi Arabia with the 803rd Medical Group as a Chief Warrant Officer 03 during Operations Desert Shield and Storm. He retired from US Postal Service after 18 years as a mail handler/machine operator. He was a life member of the VFW (post 8345) and the DAV #35.
Visiting hours are 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 in Marshfield. Final goodbyes at the funeral home on Monday, April 29 at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment in Couch Cemetery.
