Obituary

FALL RIVER… Henry T. Mercer, Jr., 62, of Fall River passed away April 16, 2013 following a long illness.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Henry T. Sr. and Virginia A. (Horton) Mercer and had been a lifelong resident of this city.
Mr. Mercer was employed as a cab driver at Buddy’s Transportation in Fall River for 10 years before having to leave, formerly he was employed as the Assistant Director of Emergency Management Agency in Swansea for 10 years and worked for the Registry of Deeds in Fall River. He was a past president of the former Battleship Cove Emergency CB Club, and the Legion of Mary at St. Joseph’s Church, Fall River and enjoyed politics, New England sports teams, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include 3 brothers: James J. Mercer and his wife Thao of Fall River, Robert A. Mercer and his wife MaryAnn of Fall River and John J. Mercer and his wife Anne of Somerset, nieces and nephews: Krystle Adams, Nicole Mercer, Jillian Mercer, Laurie Bartley and her husband Kris, Scott Lafleur and James Mercer, 1 great nephew: Braeden Bartley, and his good friend Kathy Medeiros. He was the brother of the late Barbara Manchester and good friend of the late Tommy Medeiros.
Services to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday, April 29, 2013 at 11:45 AM at SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River. Inurnment will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Visitation will be Monday morning from 10 – 11:45 AM, prior to the service.
