Obituary

ZELMA (MASDEN) MCGAHA, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2013.
Zelma was born January 11, 1927 to Albert Lee and Lee Ella Masden. She retired from the Jefferson County Public Schools where she worked as an elementary teacher and school psychometrist. She earned her bachelors degree at Western Kentucky University and masters degree at Spalding University while working a full time job, being a loving wife, and raising her three children. She was a chartered (last surviving charter) member of Kenwood Christian Church, now known as Kenwood Heights Christian Church, where she has continued her service to the Lord for 70 years. She was active with the senior citizens at her church including her many visits to those who are shut in. She enjoyed many activities and was an avid bowler, card player and loved the outdoors.
Zelma enjoyed 62 years of marriage to her husband, Tolbert William McGaha, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded by her brother, Richard Lee Masden.
She is survived by her three loving and grateful children, Mark McGaha (Judy), Ruth Jarrell (Robb) and Stephen McGaha (Cecelia); five grandchildren, Paul Jarrell, Kristi Waters, Daniel McGaha, Alicia Skidmore and Melissa Hicks; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Kenwood Heights Christian Church, 5610 New Cut Road with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 – 8 p.m. Thursday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway and after 9 a.m. on Friday at her church.
