Dorothy "Miss Dot" Marchant Carper, 90, of Tifton died Monday, April 22, 2013 at Heritage Health Care in Fitzgerald. Previously, she was a long-term resident of Southern Care Assisted Living in Tifton. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013, in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Cass DuCharme of Highland Hills Baptist Church in Macon will officiate with burial to follow. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 26, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be at the residence of Bill and Neva Rogers, 2715 U.S. Highway 41 North in Tifton.
Mrs. Carper was born on September 19, 1922 in Tift County and was the daughter of James and Ethel Marchant of Omega, both deceased. She was the widow of Sidney Carper who, for many years, owned the Alpine Restaurant and they both spent a lifetime in the food service industry.
Mrs. Carper is survived by her sister, Mrs. Sue Purvis of Omega; her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Ruth Bennett of Northern Ireland and Bill and Neva Rogers of Tifton; and her step-sons, Gerald Carper of Macon and Charles Carper of Tifton. She leaves grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews, both at home and abroad.
