Ronald L. Shaw, 80, of Fairhaven died Thursday August 5, 2004 at home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Joan (Winterbottom) Shaw.
Born in Carver, the son of the late Benjamin Cobb Shaw and Alice (Appling) Nickerson, he lived in Fairhaven for several years.
In 1949 Mr. Shaw began his long career with the New Bedford Gas & Edison Light Company. He served as Director of Personnel and then as Manager of Employee Relations with Com Electric for many years until his retirement in 1989.
Mr. Shaw had served on the New Bedford Personnel Board. He was a member of the Nantucket Anglers Club, where he founded the UPONS Scholarship Fund. He was a member of the STBs , a one-of-a-kind private group. During World War II, he served as a pilot and navigator in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife; four stepchildren, Susan Pykosz and her husband Chris, of Cotuit, James Griffith, John Griffith, and Jeffrey Griffith and his wife Sandra, all of California; and two granddaughters, Amy Griffith and Christine Griffith.
His Memorial Service will be held on Monday August 9, 2004 at 11:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. Visiting hours are omitted.
