New Bedford- Maria Fernanda DeSousa, aged 72, died, Monday, April 22, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Jose DeSousa. Born in Faial Azores, daughter of Manuel Pacheco and Cristina (Vieira) Pacheco, Maria immigrated to this country in 1971. She worked as a stitcher at Bobcat Sportswear for many years before her retirement.
Her family includes her daughter Lisa Maria wife of Paul Sousa of New Bedford. She was also survived by her siblings Manuel A. Pacheco, Jose Pacheco, Luis Pacheco, Maria L. Goulart, Antonio Pacheco, Maria L. Pereira and was much loved by several nieces and nephews.
Maria was predeceased by her brother, Norberto Pacheco
Mrs. De Sousa will have a Mass in her memory at St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth on Wednesday, April 24th, at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to meet directly at church. Visiting hours are omitted.
