Joseph B. Skowyra, 84, of Pembroke, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday April 21st in the Life Care Center in West Bridgewater. He was the husband of the late Ester (Linehan) Skowyra.
He was born in Palmer, son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Fabion) Scora.
Joseph served his country in the United States Navy during WWII, as a Fireman from 1946-1949, after serving his country, he became employed at Hostess/Wonder Bread Company in Natick for 48 years.
He has been a Pembroke resident for 51 years. Joseph had his pilot license, loved history and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his children, Joseph Skowyra of Michigan, Jerry Skowyra and his wife Marisol Skowyra Colon of Kingston and Judith Gonsalves and her husband Alexander of Whitman; also 9 grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 24th at 2:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebook Cemetery, Whitman. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 1:00-2:00 PM.
