Obituary

Pauline (Cropper) Mallory, 92, died peacefully at home in Mystic, on Wednesday, April 17, 2013.

She was born Dec. 8, 1920, to Paul and Airini (Carr) Cropper in Auckland, New Zealand. On May 12, 1943, in Auckland, she married Clifford Day Mallory Jr., a U.S. Navy lieutenant. Pauline devoted her life to her family and many friends worldwide and will be remembered by all as a paragon of selflessness, grace, beauty, humor and kindness.

Predeceased by her husband in 2000 and by two siblings, James R. Cropper and Errol C. Lovering.

She is survived by a brother, John W. Cropper of Auckland and her three children, Diana (Mallory) Hawes of Pasadena, Calif., Veronica (Mallory) Stubbs (Michael) of New York City and Charles Mallory (Georgette) of Greenwich; in addition to seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Her family would like to extend their extreme gratitude to the women who gave her such loving care in her last years: Loreen Panucci, Pinky Mazibuko, Christina Jennette, Karen Kingsborough, Celena LoPriore, Marjean Wilkins and Dottie, in addition to all those at the Center for Hospice Care Southeastern Connecticut, especially Nancy Rennert, Sandy Marchand and Liz Rafferty.

A gathering in Pauline Mallory's memory will be held at 12:30 p.m. May 31, at Mystic Seaport, Mystic.
