
Paul Byrne Morgan, 76, of Osterville, Ma and Jupiter, Fl, passed away peacefully at home on April 20, 2013 surrounded by his family. Paul is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Eileen T. (O’Sullivan) Morgan, his daughter, Maureen Morgan DeMenna, her husband Steve, and grandchildren Matthew, Maryclare and James of Hingham. He dedicated his life to his family and service to his country as a major in the United States Army.
He grew up in the Bronx, New York, attended Xavier High School and Fordham University, one of four children of Frank and Grace Morgan. Paul was a career officer in the US Army, as a Special Forces trained Airborne Ranger, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam, earning several medals, including the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantry Badge, and multiple awards and decoration for valor in combat. After the attacks of September 11, 2001, he was determined to do something for his hometown in its hour of need. On September 12, 2001, Paul and his search and rescue dog, Cody, were instrumental in finding the remains of 3 firefighters. Paul was a soldier, husband, father, grandfather, author, historian, horseman, and cavalry soldier re-enactor. He never met a stranger and will be sorely missed.
A funeral mass was celebrated on Monday, April 22nd at St. Paul's Church, Hingham.
