Obituary

Vincenza Maria (Tagliaferro) Bider was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1920, to Rosaline and Anthony Tagliaferro, both immigrants from Italy. Vincenza, fondly known as "Vinnie," attended grammar school and high school in Lawrence, and graduated from the Lawrence Practical School, where she cultivated her love for sewing and design. As a young adult, Vinnie dreamed of becoming a professional singer, performing with several bands and vocal groups, including the Vocaliers. Vinnie also had her own weekly fifteen-minute slot on the Lawrence radio station WLLH, where she became known as the "Stardust Girl" for her rendition of the popular American standards. A fan of the classic romantic songs of the 1930s and 40s, Vinnie fell into her own love song when she met Michael Charles Bider Jr. at a local dance and married him in 1950. They moved to Tower Hill where they raised their sons, Michael and David. Vinnie was employed as a seamstress for Grieco Brothers in Lawrence for over forty years, where she made many dear friends and even got to sign her name on the inside of a custom suit made for President John F. Kennedy. Of all the good fortune in her life, Vinnie was most delighted by her wonderful family, whom she cherished and cared for with constant love and a gentle and generous spirit. After retirement, with her husband always by her side, Vinnie spent her days happily assisting at her sons' stores, tending to her beautiful home and garden, and enchanting her three granddaughters with stories, crafts, and adventures. Vinnie was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Melkite Church in Lawrence. Vinnie was predeceased by her loving husband, Michael Charles Bider Jr., sister Angelina Nardozza, and brothers James and Anthony Tagliaferro. She is survived by her sons Michael and his wife Joanne of Essex, David and his wife Sylvia of Andover, and her grandchildren Emily, Anne, and Katherine. Vinnie also leaves behind her sister, Florence Arivella of Lawrence, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the management and staff of Prescott House Nursing of North Andover for their care, love, and support.
