LAWRENCE – Vasco A. deLima, 80 of South Lawrence, MA passed away Wednesday April 17, 2013 at his home.
Born and educated in Faial, Azores, he was the son of Joaquin and Antonieta deLima. He worked as a machine operator for the Shoe Carton Corp. in Methuen. Vasco was an avid soccer fan, was a member of the Portuguese American Club in Lawrence. He enjoyed spending time with his family, loved fishing, keeping in touch with his family in the homeland, via the internet and also the daily visits from his visiting nurses and hospice caregivers.
The widower of Odilia (Barcelos) deLima, he is survived by his children, Raul B. (Ray) Lima of Methuen, Vasco B. (Vic) Lima and his wife Edwardina also of Methuen, Paul B. deLima of Lawrence and Dina B. Moury and her husband Dennis of Windham, NH.
Three brothers, Raul Lima and his wife Maria Gloria of Methuen and the Azores, Hugo Lima and his wife Maria Zulmira also of Methuen and the Azores, Renato Lima and his wife Odete of Lawrence and one sister, Liliana Sa Vaz and her husband Rui of Lisbon, Portugal.
Ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on today, Thursday from 4:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9:00a.m. in St. Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
