Obituary

EDWIN FRANKLIN SOUTHER, 87, of Hingham, passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2013 surrounded by his family. Husband for over 63 years to Mary E. (Dunn) Souther. Ed is survived by his eight children; Charles and his wife Paula of Hingham, Anne Ciovacco and her husband Walter of Hingham, John of Norwell, James and his partner Paul of New York, Virginia (Ginger) Baxter and her husband Dana of Hingham, Karen Ohrenberger and her husband Michael of Pembroke, Ted and his wife Susan of Hingham and Carolyn Kelley and her husband William of Norwell. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Worsh of Duxbury, 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A lifelong resident of Hingham, Ed was retired from the Hingham Police Department after serving 33 years and was a World War II Navy veteran. A dedicated family man, he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He accomplished his goal of going to Disneyworld with every one of his grandchildren and their families.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, April 19th at 10 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham. Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment in Hingham Center Cemetery.
