WEST GLOUCESTER: James C. “Skip” Murray, 64, died unexpectedly, Monday afternoon, April 15, 2013 in the Beverly Hospital with his daughter, Jaclyn and loving family by his side.
Born in Gloucester on December 16, 1948, he was the son of the late Martin J. “Bud” and Doris I. (Roberts) Murray. He was a lifelong resident and graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1966.
Skip was employed by the former Thermet, Inc. for many years. He was a shop steward for the Teamster’s Local Union 42.
He was a great fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing softball for the House of Mitch. Skip loved animals, especially Sasha and Yoda and was also known to be a very patriotic person. A loving and devoted father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jaclyn and Daniel Sharp, Jennifer and Michael Walsh; a stepson, Lonnie, husband of Julie Guest; seven grandchildren, Colt Sharp, Grant, Rhett, Rowan and Layne Walsh, Ashley and Derek Guest; his former spouse, Rhonda (Jameison) Murray; his brother, Ernest, husband of Carol Smith; two aunts, Barbara Grover and Margaret Murray; two uncles, Dexter, husband of Marion Murray and Stanley Roberts. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special cousin, Sharon and her husband, Wayne Martin, with whom he resided.
In keeping with his wishes services will be held privately. There are no visiting hours.
