Obituary

Walter J. “Dock” Collins, 84,of Mystic, Georgia died Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Big Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne McCrimmon and the Rev. Ed Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Fitzgerald, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8.

Mr. Collins was born September 25, 1928, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Wolver Carlton and Mary Eula Gentry Collins. He lived in the community all of his life. Being a farmer he enjoyed the outdoors, which included fishing and gardening, he was also a former employee of Bowen-McCranie Feed Company of Tifton. Mr. Collins loved to help his neighbors and he was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by a daughter: Lois Collins of Mystic; grandchildren: Walter (Randi) Collins of Fitzgerald, Melody Collins Cowart of Adel and Derrick (Lisa) Collins of Mystic; two great-grandchildren: Ansleigh Cowart and Braydon Cowart both of Adel; one sister: Annette (Clifford) Dove of Mystic and two sisters-in-law: Etta Mae Collins of Tifton and Lucy (Joe) Clark of Athens. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Tiny Annette Collins; one son: Ed Collins; two brothers: W. T. Collins and Harvey Lee Collins.
