Obituary

Lorraine T. (Guerin) McDonough, age 83, formerly of Natick, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2013 in her residence at Caton Merchant House in Manassas, VA  with family by her side.  Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Philias and Emma (Lambert) Guerin and the beloved wife of the late Francis J. McDonough, who passed away in 1983.

A graduate of Holy Name High School in Worcester in 1947, Lorraine went on to graduate from Boston College in 1964 with a B.A. in English. She taught French and English for many years, before returning to school to earn an M.A. in Psychology in 1978 from Anna Maria College. Thereafter, she ran a private practice in psychotherapy until retiring in the early 1990’s. Lorraine was a longtime and active parishioner at Saint Patrick Parish in Natick, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. A talented musician, she derived great pleasure both in playing and teaching the piano. Lorraine loved to travel and spoke fondly of her years living in San Francisco as a young adult. Living near the ocean brought her great peace and happiness. She and her late husband began their marriage in a sea view apartment in Lynn; in 1966, they would purchase a cottage in Dennisport where many wonderful family memories were made.

Lorraine is survived by her sons Dennis M. McDonough of Copper Mountain, CO; Matthew F. McDonough and his wife Sarah and their son Luke of Delaplane, VA; and her sister Cecile Deschenes of Auburn. She was predeceased by her brothers: Paul Guerin, George Guerin, Norman Guerin and Richard Guerin; and her sister Claire (Guerin) McGee.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 19 at 10:00A.M in St. Patrick’s Church (Lower Church), 44 East Central St. (Rt. 135) Natick. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
