Doris Evelyn Albright Perry, of Englewood, NJ, died Wednesday evening, April 10, 2013, at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (N.J.). Doris was born April 30, 1926 in Durham, NC, the sixth of seven children born to the late Robert Lindsay and Martha Maude Roundtree Albright. Doris was married to Walter Perry who preceded her in death on December 8, 1980. She was also preceded in death by all of her siblings: four brothers, Joseph, Robert, Jr., Edward Ralph, and Donald Wayne Albright and two sisters, Edna Albright Lambeth, and Georgia Albright Griffin.
Graduating from Hillside High School in Durham, NC in 1944, she attended Virginia State University, and she worked as a clerk in the Ordinary Insurance Dept. at North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company until her marriage in 1959. She relocated to Brooklyn, NY and later to Englewood NJ. She retired from the Teaneck (NJ) Public Library in 1990.
Surviving are two daughters, Daphne D. Perry, Vineland NJ and Stephanie D. Perry, Englewood, NJ. and two grandsons, Keith and Kenneth Perry of New Jersey. She is also survived by two nieces, Beryl Lambeth Coley, Washington, DC and Patricia Griffin Covas, Hampton, VA and three nephews, Perry E. Lambeth, Hopewell Junction, NY, Dr. Robert L. Albright, Locust Grove, GA, and James M. Griffin Jr., Hampton, VA, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews. Doris also leaves to mourn, a childhood friend, Bobby Tate Wicks, formerly of Durham, Julia Spencer, Durham and many neighbors and friends in New Jersey.
Friends and family are invited for visitation on Thursday from 10 AM to 12 PM at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ 07666. A funeral service will begin in the funeral home at 12 PM. Interment to follow at Fair Lawn Memorial Park, Fair Lawn, NJ.
