Obituary

McDevitt, Marjorie T. of Jamaica Plain, died on April 12, 2013 at home in the room in which she was born 94 years ago. Daughter of the late John & Mary (Nelson) McDevitt. Sister of the late Francis McDevitt, Marie Smith, Alice Chapman and Eleanor DeBassio. Aunt of Donald Smith of VA, Paula Coffey of VA, Marjorie Lukas of OH, George Smith of Fl and MA, Alice Megna of MA, Nelson Smith of HI, Maria Smith of MA, Paul DeBassio of MA, Arlene Bevilacqua of MA, Daniel DeBassio of MA, John DeBassio of MA, John Chapman of IN, James Chapman of KY, Joseph Chapman of IN and Judith Chapman of IN. Also survived by several grand & great grand nieces and nephews. Margie was a lifelong resident of Jamaica Plain and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. She served in the US Coast Guard during WW II as a pharmacist mate and was a longtime employee of New England Telephone Company. In addition to being a caring daughter, sister, niece and aunt, she enjoyed traveling both in this country and abroad and participated in many adventures. With her ready smile and quick wit, she would naturally charm anyone she met and could easily make new friends. Margie T. was a one of a kind person who touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Funeral from the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Friday April 19 at 9:15 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Jamaica Plain at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margie's memory may be made to Catholic TV, 34 Chestnut St., PO Box 9196, Watertown, MA 02471.
