Obituary

Lawrence, MA – Emilio “Emil” J. Mancini 98, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, April 12, 2013 at the Lahey Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Emilio, the son of Antonio and Angela (Lobriccio) Mancini, was born in Lawrence on December 28, 1914 and graduated from Lawrence High School. Emilio was employed by the Lawrence School System before his retirement in 1979.
Emilio was a devout catholic and an attendant of Corpus Christi/Holy Rosary Church of Lawrence. He had been an active Church Usher for many years.
During World War II he served his country in the United States Army before being honorably discharged at the war’s end. Emilio was a volunteer at the Mary Immaculate Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Lawrence. He participated in talent shows and received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2002. Emilio was also a member of the Come Alive After 5 Club in Lawrence where he enjoyed ballroom dancing. Emilio loved dancing and won a Valentine's Day dance contest. In addition to dancing, Emilio was an avid Cribbage Player and a loyal Red Sox fan. Always devoted to his family; one of Emilio’s greatest joys was spending time with his beloved daughter and his three granddaughters. Emilio was full of life, love, laughter, and kindness and will be missed dearly.
Emilio was the devoted husband of the late of Ida K. (DiStefano) Mancini
Survivors include one daughter Ms. Elaine DiVincenzo of Andover, one sister Mrs. Ide Schiavone of Methuen, three granddaughters Lisa, Christina and Melissa DiVincenzo, and several nieces and nephews.
Emilio was pre-deceased by his brother William J. Mancini, and sisters Lillian DePippo and Minnie DePippo.
Friends and family will be warmly received on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence St in Methuen.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock in Corpus Christi/ Holy Rosary Church in Lawrence with entombment to follow in Saint Mary-Immaculate Conception Mausoleum.
The arrangements have been entrusted to the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
