Roy Merritt, age 87, of Douglas, GA passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Merritt was born on May 16, 1925, in West Green, GA to the late Burrell and Mary Jane Young Merritt.
Mr. Merritt was a retired Shift Superintendent with Terminal Paper and Bag Company. He was a Ezerah Masonic Lodge #67 Jacksonville, FL, Scottish Rite-Jacksonville Consistory, Morocco Shrine Temple in Jacksonville, Order of Eastern Star-Ezerah Lodge #67, and a Farmer until working at the bag plant.
Survivors include: his wife: Betty Ruth Merritt, of Douglas, GA, one sister: Lillian Mann, of Jacksonville, GA, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by eight brothers, James Merritt, Elmer Merritt, Homer Merritt, Dan Merritt, Monroe Merritt, Nathan Merritt, Leston Merritt, and Chesley Merritt and two sisters, Lucy Wilcox and Mattie Green.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14 from 6-9 pm.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home. Interment followed at Grantham Cemetery.
