Nellie Catherine (Hirzel) Macdonald, 95, Indianapolis, died April 10, 2013 at Golden Living Center Brookview, Indianapolis following an extended illness.
She was an Indianapolis resident since 1997.
She was born Dec. 7, 1917 in Syracuse, NY to Albert and Nellie (Paulson) Hirzel.
She served honorably in the US Navy as an Apprentice Seaman during WW II.
She was a homemaker and caregiver.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabelle; Franciscans and American Legion.
She always planted flowers in the Spring at the church rectory. She enjoyed baking.
Survivors include her sons David (Karen) Macdonald and Larry Parks; two grandchildren Mark Macdonald and Leslie Macdonald all of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gordon L. Macdonald; her son Ronald Parks; five sisters, Joanne Trudeau; Mary E. Rogan; Ellen Hirzel, Caroleen Johnson ; Isabelle Sheehan and brother Albert Hirzel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 15, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Williams officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 14 from 2 PM until 4 PM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
