Obituary

Mrs. Elinor L. (Eldridge) Macedo, of New Bedford, died Sunday, April 7 in St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford, following a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was a kind and gentle soul who was loved by all who knew her. She was the beloved wife of the late Francisco M. Macedo. Elinor was born 60 years ago in Roslindale, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Edith (Lawrence) Eldridge. She was educated in Barnstable, having graduated from the Barnstable Vocational School in 1970, and had been a New Bedford resident since 1974. She was formerly employed by the New Bedford School System as a teacher’s aide for 15 years. She attended the Carroll Center for the Blind in Newton. She enjoyed baking with her grandchildren, gardening and spending time with her family in New Bedford and on Cape Cod. She was a communicant of the former St. James Parish in New Bedford.
She leaves: 1 son: Francisco P. Macedo and his wife, Theresa of New Bedford; 3 brothers: Peter Eldridge and his wife, Nora of Colchester, Ct., Paul Eldridge and his wife, Sandra of Hyannis, and Thomas Eldridge and his wife, Cassia of Osterville; 2 sisters: Dorothy Warner and her husband, Richard of E. Falmouth, and Eileen Long and her husband, Edward of Mashpee; 2 grandchildren: Alycia and Frankie Macedo, and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit, on Thursday, April 18 at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Amercian Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, Ma., 01701, in memory of Francisco M. Macedo. Arrangements are under the direction of The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton.
