New Bedford – Paul C. Smith, aged 62 years, died unexpectedly Monday, April 8th, 2013 at St Lukes Hospital. He was born in Acushnet, Ma the son of Lillian R. (Medeiros) Smith of Fairhaven and the late Franklin C. Smith. He was formerly employed as a Bridge Tender for the State of Massachusetts for 35+ years. Paul was a ham radio enthusiast.
Mr. Smith proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War achieving the rank of SP4. He was awarded the National Defense Service medal, also was a Marksman M14 and Expert M16.
Mr. Smith’s family includes his mother Lillian, his siblings: Thomas F. Smith and his wife Diane and Linda Marie Brennan, both of Fairhaven; his niece Jessica Medeiros and nephews Michael Smith and Jared Knickerbocker. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles.
In accordance with his wishes, Paul will be cremated. Visiting hours have been omitted.
