Evelyn Young Walsh, 77, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at Mystic Baptist Church, Irwin County with Bro. Bobby Hiers and Bro. Richard Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00, Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Walsh was born January 21, 1927 in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late James P. and Mattie Lou Phillips Young. She was a homemaker and a former employee of SWS Garment and Irwin County Hospital. Mrs. Walsh had lived most of her life in Ben Hill County and was a member of the Abbeville Baptist Purity Church. She was an avid gardener caring for her yard and flowers. Mrs. Walsh always enjoyed helping others.
Mrs. Walsh is survived by her husband: Warren G. “Shorty” Walsh of Fitzgerald; son: Herman “Pete” Oden of Fitzgerald; daughter: Linda Adkisson of Fitzgerald; two step-sons: Gary Walsh of Redstone Arsenal, AL and Tony Walsh of Atlanta; three step-daughters: Debbie Kitchens of Camron, NC, Lisa Reynolds of Atlanta, and Terry Clark of Fitzgerald; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; thirteen step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Leon “Buck” Young and Melvin Young, both of Fitzgerald, and Marvin Young of Tifton; and two sisters: Gladys Fussell of Fitzgerald and JoAnn Grantham of Tifton. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
