Obituary

WEBSTER – Carl A. Carlson, 70, beloved son, brother, uncle, great-uncle and friend, died Monday, April 1, 2013, in UMass/Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, after a brief illness.
He leaves his mother, Evelyn E. (Bazinet) Carlson of Webster; 3 sisters, Alma K. Shanley and her husband Patrick of Shrewsbury, Linda J. Bonczek and her husband Chester of North Grosvenordale, CT, and Ellen A. Pluta and her husband Roger of Sierra Vista, AZ; a brother, Robert J. Carlson and his wife Lisa of Corpus Christi, TX; nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces; and his adopted family at his group home in Holden.
He was born in Webster, a son of the late Carl I. Carlson and was raised in Oxford. He lived in Webster from 1986 to 2012, when he moved to Holden.
Mr. Carlson was a member of the United Church of Christ, Federated. He sang in the choir and had served as coordinator of greeters. He was an ardent fan of the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed singing and riding his Hoveround in town.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 4, at noon in the United Church of Christ Federated, 4 Church Street. The Rev. Melinda Lamontagne and the Rev. Peter Kariuki will co-officiate. There are no calling hours. Donations in his name may be made either to BAMSI, 10 Christy’s Drive, Brockton, MA 02301 or to the United Church of Christ, Federated, 4 Church St., Webster, MA 01570. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., Webster.
