Methuen — Mary “Alice” (Elward) Smerdon, 95, a resident of Lawrence and Methuen passed away Wednesday morning at Sutton Hill Center in North Andover.
Born and educated Lawrence, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Welch) Elward and was a graduate of Lawrence High School, class of 1935. She worked as an electronic technician retiring from Western Electric. “Alice” was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in South Lawrence, and she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
The widow of James Everett Smerdon, she is survived by her three daughters, Dorothy L. Daulton of Seabrook, N.H., Diane M. Cunningham and her husband John of Marco Island, Fla., and Andover, Mass., and Linda A. Condon and her husband Ron of Methuen, Mass.
Grandchildren are Robin Johnson, Gerald Nassif, Jay Condon and Darryl Condon. Great grandchildren are Mark and Telia Lynch, Delaney, Jack, Max and Avery Condon and one great-great granddaughter, Olivia Lynch. Alice also leaves her cousin Geraldine Naveau of Falls Church, Va. Alice was predeceased by her grandson Mark Nassif and her son-in-law James Daulton.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Saturday morning from 9 to 10 a.m., at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence St., Methuen, MA, 01844.
