MANGIS, Rex L. “Ossie”, 85, passed away April 3, 2013.
Rex retired from GE as a foreman and tool and die apprentice instructor. He was a founding member and still active with St. Athanasius Catholic Church, a member of Moose Lodge #5 , and was a member of the board of directors for the Louisville Municipal Boat Harbor for many years. In his life, he enjoyed golfing, skating at Robbins Roost, boating, dancing and cheering on the Louisville Cardinals.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Teresa Hess Mangis; children, David Mangis (Ann), Beth Sanders (Bob), John Mangis (Sherry), Rita Yung (Joe), Barbara Whitfill (Tim) and Theresa Sink (Tom); sisters, Mary Sue Compton, Mildred Freeman and Jill Ryan (Charles); 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Help celebrate Rex’s life, with his family, Friday, April 5, 4-8pm at Owen Funeral Home – Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road, and at a memorial mass, Saturday, April 6, 11 am at St. Athanasius Church, 5915 Outer Loop. Burial of ashes will be at Bellfountaine Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, IN.
