Marsha E. Scurka
Beloved mother, grandmother and sister
TEWKSBURY: Marsha E. (Long) Scurka, age 70, a resident of Tewksbury for 45 years, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at the Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus.
She was the beloved wife of John J. Scurka, Jr. who passed away on November 29, 1982.
Born in Thompson, CT on June 28, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Long and the late Mabel (Spink).
Marsha was raised Burrillville, RI, attended Burrillville schools and graduated from Burrillville High School in 1960.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as an aid, assisting the handicapped.
Marsha enjoyed playing word games especially scrabble, eating ice cream, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Debra L. Wyer and her husband Kenneth of Monverde, FL and Gregg R. Scurka of Tewksbury; five grandchildren, Ryan and Emily Scurka and Jackson, Zachary and Mackenzie Wyer; one brother, Arthur Long of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters, Sandra Carter and Sharon Freelove both of Burrillville, RI and Kimberly Lesperance of Phoenix, AZ; also many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday, April 4, from 10 a.m.-12 noon in the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by a prayer service to be held in the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101 First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.
