June M. (Tilton) Barre, age 87, of Norton, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Royal E. “Joe” Barre, to whom she was wed for 64 years at the time of his death on October 17, 2012
Born in Boston, MA, she was a loving daughter of the late Lawrence, Sr. and Rahnld (Neilson) Tilton. She grew up in Medfield, was educated in Foxboro public schools and was a graduate of Foxboro High School.
In addition to being a dedicated homemaker to her family, Mrs. Barre had also worked in the jewelry industry at several Attleboro area jewelry manufacturing companies.
June had made her home in Norton for the past 36 years and was a former longtime resident of Mansfield. She was actively involved with the Angle Stone Chapter 118, Order of Eastern Star, the Mansfield D.A.R. and the Norton Grange.
Her interests including growing flowers and gardening. She canned the fruits and vegetables of each years harvest, which her family enjoyed throughout the winter months. Her hobbies were sewing, knitting, and crocheting, and along with her late husband “Joe“, had shown lopped eared rabbits of which they were the recipients of many award ribbons.
She is survived by her devoted sons, Russell L. Barre and his wife Tina of Mansfield and Richard E. Barre and his wife Maureen of Norton. She was the dear sister of Louise Mehrens of California and the late Lawrence Tilton, Jr. , and is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Ryan Barre of Mansfield, Kevin Barre and his wife Kimberly of Georgia and Julianna Patton, Jadden Patton ad Renee Patton all of Attleboro, her great granddaughter Emma Grace Barre, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday April 6th from 3-5 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 5:00P.M. on Saturday at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Private burial will be at a later date in the Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.
