
Jeanne M. (Sparks) Sayers, 84, of Eastham, formerly of Oradell, NJ, died peacefully at home early Friday morning March 29, 2013. She was the wife of the late Thomas M. Sayers Sr. who died in 1996. Born in Lowell, MA on September 1, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Albert G. and Pauline A. (Biscornet) Sparks. She had lived in Oradell full time between 1956 and 1997. For most of the years since then she has been spending 6 months in Sparta, NJ and 6 months at her home in Eastham. From about 1972 until 1996 she worked as a secretary and then assistant Town Clerk for the town of Oradell. She had been a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Oradell and was also active in community and civic affairs. In her spare time she enjoyed her hobby of oil painting.
She is survived by her 3 children, Tom Sayers of Provincetown and his partner Ray Lumley. Tim Sayers of Sparta, NJ and his wife Diann and Katie Conlon of River Edge, NJ and her husband Tim and her 5 grandchildren, Alyssa, Sean and Ryan Conlon and Kevin and Amber Sayers. She was the sister of the late Paula Ann Sparks.
During her final months Jeanne was blessed with the loving and competent care of her 5 care givers: Brenda Griffin, Ruth Dowd, Rejane Compos, Michelle Dirksen and Maria Freire , all of whom provided her with comfort and support. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Oradell, NJ at 2:00pm on Saturday April 6, 2013.
