Frances McCormick, 96, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Monday, April 1, 2013 at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Goodlett officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. McCormick was born October 18, 1916 in Ben Hill County to the late John and Mary Campbell Trammell. A graduate of Fitzgerald High School, she attended the Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. Mrs. McCormick was graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in library science. A former bookkeeper for McCormick Motors, Mrs. McCormick was the librarian for Fitzgerald High School and served as interim librarian in the Ben Hill County Elementary School. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday school class. She was an emeritus member of the Ben Hill-Irwin Retired Educators Association, a former member of the Magnolia Garden Club, and an avid bridge player.
She is survived by two step-grandchildren: Kim & Mickey McSwain and Clif & Judy Harrison, all of Valdosta as well as special friends and caregivers: William & Deenna Brown, Blake & Sheri Brown, and Brian Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Albert Jackson McCormick, a daughter: Brenda McCormick Harrison, and a grandson: Darren Gaines.
