Obituary

Mary Ann (Gibbons) Sauger, 76, of Worcester died Thursday, March 28th in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She leaves three sons, John “Jay” Sauger and his wife, Alice of Toronto, Canada, Joseph Sauger and his wife, Mona of Spring, TX and James Sauger and his wife, Michelle of Livermore, CA; a daughter, Mary Beth Sanders-Jones and her husband, Kenneth of Schoolcraft, MI; two brothers, William Gibbons and his wife, Patricia of Worcester and Thomas Gibbons and his wife, Ruth of Hudson, NY; 13 grandchildren; one great granddaughter, Olivia and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was born in Worcester the daughter of Thomas and Gladys (Chestnut) Gibbons and lived here most of her life. She worked for many years at UMASS Memorial as a biller and retired from Hanover Insurance where she was an insurance adjuster. Mary Ann was a member of the Red Hats, St. Joan of Arc Church and grew up in St. Peter’s Church. She lived for the beach and spent many summers at Hampton Beach. Ms. Sauger loved watching her grandnieces participate in Irish Step Dancing. She valued education and was proud of her children’s accomplishments.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the care and comfort Mary Ann received during her illness.
Her funeral is Tuesday, April 2nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, April 1st from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
