James J. "Jim" McLaughlin
Retired Delta Airlines Mechanic
TEWKSBURY: James J. "Jim" McLaughlin, age 77, a resident of Tewksbury and Estero, FL, passed away at the Wingate of Belvidere on Wednesday, March 27, 2013.
He was the beloved husband of Mary E. (Kiley) McLaughlin, with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 30, 2012.
Born in Boston on March 28, 1935, he was the son of the late James V. McLaughlin and the late Catherine (Cahill) McLaughlin.
Jim was raised in Newton, attended Newton schools and graduated from the Newton Trade School.
In 1954, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was awarded the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his active duty service.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a mechanic by Delta Airlines at Logan International Airport, where he worked for 30 years.
He was a member of the Delta Airline Retiree Organization known as the "Delta Pioneers".
Jim resided in Tewksbury since 1966, and was a communicant of St. William's Church.
In addition to his beloved wife, Jim is survived by two daughters, Maureen A. Allen and her husband Scott of Tewksbury and Susan M. Cunningham and her husband Sean of Malden; two granddaughters, Lily and Emma Allen; two sisters, Stella Quinn of Hyannis and Kathryn Farrell of West Newton; one brother, Paul McLaughlin of Palm Coast, FL; also several nieces and nephews.
Jim was also the father of the late James J. McLaughlin, Jr. and brother of the late Jean Warner and Elizabeth McLaughlin.
Calling hours are Monday, April 1, from 4-8 p.m., in the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Tuesday, April 2, at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Rd., Wilton, NH 03086.
